Vice President Shettima to Launch Light Up South-East Initiative in Enugu

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to launch the Light Up South-East Initiative on Monday, February 26, 2024, in Enugu, the capital of Enugu State.

The initiative, a collaboration between the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) and its partners, aims to accelerate power supply to industrial clusters in the region.

The event, which follows the successful launch of the initiative in the South-West in October 2023, will feature key stakeholders in the nation’s power sector.

Vice President Shettima will also chair a South-East Business Roundtable, where government officials and business leaders will discuss ways to deliver reliable and sustainable power to industrial and residential areas in the region.

The Light Up South-East Initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to revamp Nigeria’s infrastructure framework and empower its citizens.

The administration is committed to strengthening the nation’s economic policies, and the initiative is expected to play a crucial role in achieving this goal.

On the same day, Vice President Shettima will commission the 181-megawatt Geometric Power plant in the Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, Abia State.

This commissioning is another step towards improving the power supply in the region and fostering economic growth.

Overall, the Light Up South-East Initiative and the commissioning of the Geometric Power plant mark significant milestones in the Nigerian government’s efforts to improve the country’s power infrastructure and drive economic development.
