  1. MANAGING DIRECTOR (MD)

 

Job Description

The Managing Director (MD) will have overall management responsibility with direct line authority. The MD will be the first representative of the organization and have the overall responsibility to plan, organize and control all of the day-to-day activities of the microfinance bank. At all times, the MD will be responsible to the Board of Directors. He or she will be responsible for the formation and approval of the Bank’s strategy by the board of directors.

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the execution of the company’s strategy for expansion and delivery of all the banks financial services including digital financial services in line with the business objectives agreed by the Board.

The MD shall:

  • Be a member of the Board of Directors.
  • Execute the decisions of the Board of Directors.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the bank.
  • Participate in hiring and supervision of the senior management team.
  • Manage relationships with Investors, regulatory agencies, creditors and other partner institutions.
  • Create and implement a framework for the operation of an effective senior management team.
  • Foster and maintain a corporate culture within the bank that embodies high integrity and all other corporate values.
  • Ensure that the organization follows best practices for internal control and risk management.
  • Operates in a fiscally responsible manner within agreed budget parameters.
  • Ensure sound financial recording /reporting.
  • Ensure that the MFB meets the targets set forth in the business plan and annual budget. Supervise all heads of department to achieve efficient, productive and profitable loan and deposit portfolio growth in line with corporate strategy.
  • Lead the identification of target market segments and develop strategies for growth.
  • Provide strategic input and direction for the development of performance targets, including on-going monitoring to ensure achievement of set targets.
  • Build the organizational structures and business teams to maximize productivity and performance.
  • Ensure business compliance with company’s policies, procedures and corporate governance expectations.
  • Participate in projects geared towards new products/ service development and or product/ service enhancement by giving appropriate guidance on required checks, controls, processes and procedures in line with leading practices within the sector.
  • Facilitate and present periodic business performance review reports to the Board.
  • Participate in other Executive Management Committees and other related tasks.
  • Ensure and promote advocacy roles within the Microfinance Bank Associations.
  • Ensure the bank delivers on its short and long term strategic road map.

Qualifications

  • First degree, preferably in a numeric discipline e.g. Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, etc. or related field with a minimum of Second Class Honors (Lower Division).
  • A post-graduate degree or its equivalent in any discipline. An MBA or any other related professional qualification is required.
  • Relevant professional qualifications/affiliations such as ICAN, CIBN, CFA, ACIB, etc.
  • A minimum of 10 years diverse experience (i.e. banking, insurance, microfinance, etc.) as well as experience in multi-functional roles within the industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years senior management experience within the financial services industry.
  • Prior microfinance experience is desirable, particularly within a microfinance bank with international ties.
  • Experience in MSME & SME banking exposure.
  • Ability to manage a State microfinance bank with branch Network.
  • Sound knowledge of e-Banking solutions, Digital marketing.
  • Prior board-level experience/ experience reporting to a board/ board committee.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian financial services market.

Job Description

The Assistant General Manager should be experienced in a supervisory role, and be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives. The AGM must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager.

He or she should be able to motivate and positively influence staff, especially during times of low morale. A top candidate for this position must have strong leadership and organizational skills. The AGM should be firm, but also approachable.

Qualifications

  • He should have a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in administration or any relevant accounting disciplines.
  • A Master in Business Administration (MBA).
  • Banking operation –10years experience in microfinance operation
  • Sound knowledge in cloud software – Bankone.
  • Chartered microfinance certification.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good observation skills.
  • An ability to deliver constructive criticism.
  • Computer literate and basic Math skills.
  • An ability to identify weaknesses and provide coaching where necessary.

The AGM Shall:

  • Cooperate with the General Manager, and assist with anything from project planning to staff management.
  • Nurturing positive working relationships with staff.
  • Delegating daily tasks.
  • Addressing any issues in a timely fashion.
  • Supervising staff and controlling merchandise.
  • Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Setting a good example for staff.

  1. HEAD, INTERNAL CONTROL AND AUDIT

Job Description

To design and supervise the implementation of an effective internal control and audit framework for the bank.

To investigate all cases of non-compliance or infractions of internal policies, procedures and external regulatory standards as well as make recommendations to management as applicable.

The Head, Internal Control and Audit shall:

  • Design, revise or update appropriate internal control, audit & compliance strategy and framework for the bank.
  • Plan and control audit activities in line with the overall business goals and objectives within the country
  • Identify control lapses/policy inadequacies through investigations for process improvement
  • Design audit work plan for the year and coordinate audit activities across regions
  • Oversee activities of regional audit teams for maximum effectiveness
  • Carry out spot checks on operational activities at branch, area and regional levels and take action on infractions or non-compliance issues
  • Receive and review all monthly regional audit and control reports and identify issues for necessary action.
  • Carry out periodic stocks and staff audit in all branches.
  • Carry out periodic price verification and certification and certificate of payment vouchers
  • Conduct periodic checks on payroll.
  • Ensure the periodic reconciliation of transactions are carried out.
  • Ensure that prompt investigation of frauds, forgeries, breach of policies and procedures and serious customer complaints are conducted and ensure necessary action is taken on the outcome
  • Work with Finance department and external auditors to ensure successful conduct of a comprehensive audit exercise
  • Make recommendation for policy amendments based on emerging issues in audit and internal control
  • Appraises subordinates promptly and objectively, and follows up on action points resulting from the appraisal
  • Takes responsibility for the training, coaching and mentoring of subordinates
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned by the Managing Director or by the Board

Qualifications

  • A bachelor degree/ HND in Accountancy, plus professional accounting certifications.
  • An MBA or MSC will be added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a reputable firm, Experience in a microfinance bank setting in related role is an added advantage.

He/ She will lead the design and implementation of all Marketing strategies to achieve the goals for all the microfinance banking products. The head, marketing & business development is expected to provide leadership within the Micro-Finance bank to ensure timely and successful development and implementation of the banking product and service ideas, key to the business performance and growth.

The head, marketing & Business Development:

  • Head of Credit and Marketing is responsible for Supervision of all Business Development initiatives, Personnel and Resources
  • Provide effective leadership guidance in business development strategy
  • Achieve overall profitability target of the microfinance bank
  • Implement and execute regular sales activities to generate business
  • Lead generation through organized sales presentations to prospects
  • Team Leadership; collaborate with staff to ensure successful execution of designated strategies.
  • Interview prospective clients
  • Inspect prospective client’s business to ascertain its viability and assessment of collateral
  • Write reports for granting of loan facility
  • Monitor approved loans and advise clients on good management practices
  • Consistently adhere to regulatory standards

  • Eight years’ experience in marketing MSME & SME Products through e-banking and Digital Marketing solutions.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a certificate in Micro-finance Banking issued by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (ClBN).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Tools and must be between 30 to 45 years old.
  • Proved experience in training and research is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years hands-on Micro-finance banking experience in credit and marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or any field. An MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage.
