Federal University Dutse has named staff members who abandoned their posts after the institution sponsored their academic studies.
A public notice from the university's Registrar, Alhaji Abubakar Mijinyawa, revealed the defaulters' identities and financial obligations to the school.
According to FUD, these employees violated their bond agreements by either resigning or refusing to return after completing their programmes.
Afolabi Lukman Olalekan from Chemistry owes N12.04 million. Muhammad A.
Alhassan of Computer Science resigned and is liable for N14.56 million.
Physics department's Yakubu Sani Wudil carries a debt of N18.26 million. Ramla Muhammad Kama from Pharmacology owes N16.34 million.
Staff across six departments are involved. These include Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Soil Science, Pharmacology and Environmental Sciences.
FUD has taken disciplinary steps against the offenders. Salary suspension, debt notices and referrals to the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee are among the measures.
Outstanding debts range from about N3.8 million to over N18 million. Some defaulters have started making partial payments to the university.
Bala Ismail Adamu from Physics refunded N988,195.94 of his N12.9 million liability. He's made progress toward settling his debt.
Abdulhamid Aliyu Ardo of Computer Science paid N1 million against an outstanding balance of N14.51 million.
FUD stressed that sponsorship beneficiaries must honour their contractual obligations. The university will pursue all available legal remedies against those who don't comply.
The institution warned that disciplinary action awaits any remaining defaulters. Recovery proceedings will also continue, officials confirmed.
