Unity, not rhetoric, will power Delta APC to victory in 2027 — Dr Nwoko

The Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, Dr Michael Nwoko, has described unity and cohesion as the “strongest pillars” for the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists after the high-powered APC stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House, Asaba, Dr Nwoko hailed the gathering as a “turning point” in Delta’s political landscape, noting that collective resolve and reconciliation would be the key drivers of the party’s success.

He revealed that Senator Ned Nwoko played a strategic role during the meeting, delivering what he called a “poignant message on synergy and teamwork.” According to Dr Nwoko, the Senator reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s second-term bid — a move he said symbolised “commitment to national and state stability.”

“Senator Ned Nwoko was very clear in his message,” Dr Nwoko said. “He called on leaders across Delta North and the entire state to embrace unity and sincerity of purpose. Let unity begin from wards, LGAs, and zones. His words were not political rhetoric but a call to action for transformative leadership.”

He added that the Senator emphasised reconciliation among key leaders, particularly in Delta North, stressing that peace and collaboration would strengthen the APC’s momentum and deepen its electoral dominance across the state.

The stakeholders’ meeting was widely viewed as a major consolidation effort for the APC following a wave of high-profile defections from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The recent political realignment saw Senator Ned Nwoko defect in January, followed by Governor Oborevwori in April, alongside former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa — making it the first time since 1999 that all three senators representing Delta State are APC members.

Reflecting on the shift, Dr. Nwoko stated: “This is a new dawn for Delta State — the beginning of a new chapter. The meeting reminded us that team spirit is not a slogan; it’s a strategic necessity. What we need now is to guard this momentum with sincerity, discipline, and collective resolve. Defection must not be cosmetic — it must be transformative.”

He further emphasised that unity across ethnic lines — Anioma, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko, and Ijaw — would not only secure electoral victory but also drive key developmental aspirations such as the renewed quest for the creation of Anioma State, championed by Senator Nwoko.

“Through his projects in road construction, dam rehabilitation, solar electrification, and youth and women empowerment, Senator Nwoko is showing what sincerity of purpose looks like in action. This is what the APC must replicate across all senatorial zones,” Dr Nwoko added.

The meeting, convened by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, had in attendance top APC figures including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (Delta South), Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), Delta APC Chairman Chief Omeni Sobotie, Delta North APC Chairman Adizue Eluaka, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo, and other prominent leaders.
