Umahi seeks N217bn to fund 260 roads, 8 bridges across Nigeria

The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, has revealed that the ministry requires a total of N217 billion to reconstruct 260 road projects and eight bridges across the country.

The minister revealed this information as he launched four committees for road projects on Thursday in Abuja.

According to the minister, the committees were set up to ensure efficient supervision and quality control of the road projects, as well as to redesign the roads to suit the site conditions.

Umahi said the ministry will use one-foot-thick concrete to rebuild the roads and that it is already working on the bills to rescope the projects.

The minister said the Federal Government is giving serious attention to two major roads: the Benin-Warri Dual Carriageway (Sections I, II, and III) and the dualization of East-West Road Section III: Port Harcourt (Eleme Junction) and Oone Port Junction road in Rivers.

The minister expressed his commitment to delivering quality road infrastructure that will meet the expectations of Nigerians and enhance their socio-economic well-being.
