The Ughelli South Political Colonels (USPC), a rising political pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the party executives in Ughelli South Local Government Area, pledging support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Led by Olorogun John Akaruayen Ewenede (Chairman) and Deacon Matthew Kwode (Publicity Secretary), the group visited the APC secretariat at Oginibo, Ughievwen Kingdom, to formally introduce its executives and outline its mission to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
“The Ughelli South Political Colonels is a disciplined, issue-driven movement committed to mobilizing grassroots participation, promoting internal democracy, and deepening progressive ideals within the APC,” the leaders said. “Our vision is to become the foremost grassroots political force in Delta State, building an inclusive and accountable political structure.”
The USPC declared open membership for all registered APC members in the LGA who share its ideals and pledged loyalty to both Tinubu and Oborevwori as its adopted candidates for a second term.
Responding, Olorogun Isaiah Kekeje, APC chairman in Ughelli South, welcomed the group, describing it as a formidable structure that would energize the party in the area. He revealed that he had earlier consulted notable leaders—including Olorogun John Oguma, Rt. Hon. Chris Oghenechovwen, and Rep. Francis Waive—who all approved the engagement.
Kekeje cautioned against divisive rhetoric on social media, urging elders and stakeholders to resolve disagreements internally to maintain unity in the LGA.
The meeting ended with a unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for a second term, sealing what observers described as a new alliance in Ughelli South politics.
Key APC executives and 11 ward chairmen were in attendance, alongside the full roster of the Ughelli South Political Colonels’ leadership.
