In a shocking incident that has rocked the University of Benin (UNIBEN) community, a recent graduate, Adekolore Idowu Glory, was brutally raped and murdered on her way back home from school.
The 22-year-old had just completed her studies in April 2024 and was in the process of completing her clearance when she met her untimely demise on June 13th.
According to reports, Glory was attacked by unknown assailants in Iyowa Community, Benin City.
Her lifeless body was discovered close to her mother's house, leaving her family devastated and seeking justice for the heinous crime.
Glory's brother, who shared the tragic news on X, called on the Nigerian police to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He expressed his grief and frustration, stating, "Help us seek for justice for my kid sister that just graduated from University of Benin (UNIBEN) in April 2024 and still processing her projects and clearance and was rape to death on her way back from school on Thursday 13th/6/2024 just 22 years."
The body of the young graduate has since been deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary, with the assistance of the Nigerian police from Ekiadolor Division.
The family and the university community are left reeling from the loss and are determined to see justice served for the innocent young woman.
As of the time of this report, the police in Edo have yet to comment on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered and the community in mourning.
