The Nigeria Customs Service has dismissed a recruitment update making the rounds on social media as counterfeit and not authorised by the agency. Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS spokesperson, issued the warning in a statement released Thursday in Abuja.
Maiwada urged Nigerians to ignore the false claims, stressing that the service releases genuine recruitment information exclusively through its official platforms. He called on the public to stay alert and confirm facts before spreading them online.
"Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the NCS," Maiwada said.
The NCS maintains verified accounts on Facebook under "Nigeria Customs Service" and on Instagram, X, Threads and TikTok all under the handle @customsng. Those seeking authentic updates should check only these channels.
The service advertised 3,927 positions across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Customs Assistant grades on December 27, 2024. The recruitment drive drew 573,523 applications during its first phase.
Various stages of the recruitment process took place in 2025, though appointment letters have not yet been distributed to successful candidates.
