High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has distanced himself from a viral social media publication claiming he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a strongly worded statement released through his media consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, the ex-militant leader and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited described the report as “false, mischievous, and the handiwork of detractors.”
According to the statement, Tompolo “did not author the said publication” and has “nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.” The release accused faceless enemies of orchestrating the misinformation in a calculated attempt to “discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.” The statement further emphasized that such efforts would fail, as Tompolo remains committed to eradicating crude oil theft and other criminal activities undermining the nation’s economy.
Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Tompolo, through his spokesperson, pledged continued support for the government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He also restated his endorsement of President Tinubu’s leadership, expressing confidence in his policies and even backing him for a second term in office.
The statement concluded with a clear appeal to the Federal Government and the public to “ignore the said publication” and disregard any attempts to associate Tompolo with secessionist agitations or political blackmail. It marks yet another instance of false online reports attempting to exploit the ex-militant leader’s influence in the Niger Delta for political mischief.
