Tinubu pledges to transform Nigeria with good leadership

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to deliver a better future for the country with good leadership, economic growth, and security reforms. He made the pledge during a meeting with the Nigerian community in India, where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly.

He outlined his vision for a new future for Nigeria, which includes expanding the economy by at least 6% a year, creating jobs, lifting barriers to investment, unifying the exchange rate, removing fuel subsidies, improving power generation, and enhancing food security. He also said he would review all the complaints of investors, local and foreign, about multiple taxes and various anti-investment inhibitions.

He assured his audience that his electoral victory was fair and credible and appealed to those who voted otherwise to join hands with him in building national unity and brotherhood. He said he would extend his hand across the political divide and work with all stakeholders to achieve his agenda.

On security, Tinubu said he would tackle the widespread violence in Nigeria by reforming the security services with more personnel and improved training, equipment, and pay. He said he would also address the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, inequality, and injustice. He said he had inherited a challenging security situation from his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, who had made some progress in fighting Islamist insurgents in the northeast.

Tinubu also thanked India for its support and cooperation with Nigeria in various fields, such as trade, education, health, technology, and culture. He said he looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring new areas of partnership.

The meeting was attended by several Nigerian students studying in India, who expressed their admiration and support for Tinubu. They also asked him questions about his policies and plans for Nigeria’s development. Tinubu encouraged them to pursue their education with dedication, honesty, and determination, saying that education was the key to success. He also shared his personal story of how he rose from humble beginnings to become a successful accountant, politician, and president.
