Timi Frank, a former APC publicity chief, is sounding the alarm on African leaders. He's warning them against signing deals with France that he calls dangerous and exploitative.
Frank issued his caution on Friday through a written statement. His timing coincides with high-level talks between Paris and various African nations in Nairobi.
French President Emmanuel Macron attended the Africa-France summit in Kenya this week. President Bola Tinubu and several other African leaders were also present at the gathering.
According to Frank, France is desperate to recover lost ground on the continent. Multiple African countries have rejected French influence in recent times, he noted.
The agreements signed at that summit are trojan horses, Frank argued. They won't improve the lives of ordinary Africans, he insisted during his statement.
He blamed African leaders for prioritizing personal wealth over national interests. Corruption and self-dealing drive these partnerships, he said.
"Any agreement signed with France will only benefit the leaders themselves and not the people," Frank stated bluntly. "Africans must reject such deals because they are like death warrants for the continent."
Frank called on young Africans to stand against renewed French domination. Leaders who sacrifice their nations' futures deserve to be rejected, he added.
The continent deserves real partnerships instead, Frank concluded. True development, security, and prosperity for citizens must come first.
