I'd spent the evening out and hunger caught up with me as the night wore on. Going home to cook wasn't an option, so dinner out it had to be.

The Place, sitting right beside Ikeja City Mall, became my destination around 8 p.m. The restaurant was quiet at that hour, with just a handful of diners scattered about.

I didn't have to wait long for service. The sparse crowd meant the kitchen moved quickly.

My order came down to three items: Turkey Rice, Asun Pepper Rice, and goat meat with stew. The bill broke down as follows — N7,400 for the Turkey Rice, N5,900 for the Asun Pepper Rice, and N1,300 for the meat and stew.

My total came to N15,900. Between the two rice dishes, the Turkey Rice dominated my taste buds.

It was genuinely impressive. Think concoction rice prepared with real care, then paired with tender turkey pieces.

Every spoonful had flavour. The turkey complemented the rice beautifully, making it the standout of my meal.

The Asun Pepper Rice didn't disappoint, but it didn't impress either. It was simply adequate.

Compared to its companion dish, it felt unmemorable. It wasn't bad — it just didn't stick with me.

As for the goat meat, the kitchen handled it well. It stayed tender and went down easy.

That's not always guaranteed with goat meat. Sometimes it arrives tough and chewy, but not tonight.

The meal left me satisfied overall. Service speed helped — arriving after the dinner rush clearly had its advantages.

Would I order the Turkey Rice again? Without hesitation, yes.

The Asun Pepper Rice? Perhaps, if nothing else caught my eye.

But given a choice between the two, I'm going with the Turkey Rice every time. It's the dish worth returning for.
