Tantita Security Services Limited has called on communication scholars and media professionals to deploy their expertise in the national campaign against oil theft and vandalism.
Speaking at the 12th Annual Conference of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) in Effurun, Delta State, Capt. Waredi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Operations and Technical at Tantita, described crude oil theft as “one of the most devastating forms of corruption” eroding governance, national revenue, and community development.
He stressed that while government and security interventions are vital, communication experts play a crucial role in shaping public attitudes, exposing criminal networks, and promoting transparency in the oil sector. “The media and communication scholars can be powerful allies in creating a culture where oil theft is widely condemned,” he said.
Enisuoh highlighted Tantita’s collaboration with security agencies and host communities, which he said has significantly curbed pipeline vandalism, crude theft, and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta. He urged ACSPN to expand research and advocacy on the dangers of oil theft, pledging that Tantita will sustain partnerships to safeguard Nigeria’s oil assets for the benefit of all.
