Former Petroleum Minister and Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, has criticized the current Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, for allegedly ordering his prosecution over the death of George Sibo in the last governorship election.
Sylva claims that Diri's directive to his Attorney-General is a desperate attempt to distract him from pursuing his case at the Appeal Court.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant, Media, Julius Bokoru, Sylva expressed his lack of knowledge regarding the death of George Sibo, whom he described as a promising youth of the state.
He accused Diri of using taxpayers' money to fund heavy propaganda against him and the APC, with the aim of distracting them from their legal pursuit.
Sylva emphasized that Diri's latest allegations are a sign of fear and anxiety, following the failure of his previous attempts to discredit Sylva through a phantom EFCC case.
He stated that Diri's actions are a new low and questioned the governor's mental stability, suggesting that he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since the alleged electoral heist in November 2023.
The APC candidate stressed that until justice is served, Diri's governorship remains illegitimate in the minds of sincere Bayelsans and people of goodwill.
He reiterated his commitment to reclaiming his stolen mandate through legal means, despite the distractions and baseless allegations from the governor.
As the legal battle continues, the situation in Bayelsa State remains tense, with both sides accusing each other of using underhanded tactics to gain or maintain power.
