Nigeria's Flamingos got a cash boost after demolishing Guinea in the U17 World Cup qualifiers. Remo Stars proprietor Kunle Soname handed them N4.5 million following their devastating performance.
Soname had committed N750,000 per goal scored in the second leg. He kept his word after the girls stormed to a 6-0 victory in Ikenne.
This wasn't the Flamingos' first statement against Guinea in the tie. They'd already crushed the visitors 5-0 in the opening leg played in Abidjan.
Combining both results gave Nigeria an 11-0 aggregate victory. That's enough to propel them straight into the third and final qualifying round.
The home crowd in Ikenne fired up the Flamingos from the opening whistle. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi struck in the ninth minute off a Queen Joseph assist.
Captain Harmony Chidi made it 2-0 with a thunderous long-range effort. Joseph herself scored moments later to extend Nigeria's lead.
Adegbuyi headed in her second goal of the match in the 32nd minute. Chidi wasn't done—she added another before halftime to make it 5-0.
Substitute Precious Oscar sealed the rout in the 70th minute. Her goal capped off a masterclass display by the young Nigerian side.
Next up, the Flamingos will face Benin Republic in the final qualifying round. A win there books them a ticket to the 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.
