Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has received John Ezeobi, chairman of Zobis Cable Industries, to discuss plans for a sprawling industrial city designed to transform manufacturing in the state. The project will anchor more than 15 major industrial and commercial operations across the region.
The Zobis Industrial City will span sites in Okoti and Odekpe within Ogbaru Local Government Area. It'll house cable manufacturing plants, copper production facilities, switchgear and PVC factories, plus a research and development institute, residential quarters and integrated logistics infrastructure.
During the Saturday meeting in Awka, Soludo expressed enthusiasm for the venture. He told Ezeobi that his administration remains determined to partner with private investors as it transforms Anambra into a major investment hub across Nigeria and Africa.
"The state is advancing on all development fronts and will keep working to give investors the conditions they need to succeed," he said. The visit demonstrated how government and the private sector are collaborating to drive industrialisation, he added.
Ezeobi outlined how the industrial city will support Nigeria's shift towards local manufacturing and reduce import dependence. "This initiative is about strengthening Nigeria's manufacturing base, promoting local content and positioning Anambra as a major industrial hub in West Africa," he told the governor.
The project spans roughly 94 hectares with more than 800,000 square metres of built-up space. Construction runs from May 2025 through December 2028 in its first phase.
The development is expected to create over 15,000 direct jobs when it launches. It'll also open doors for innovation, research collaboration and industrial partnerships while backing the state's economic development plans, according to Ezeobi.
