Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza lavished praise on Super Eagles striker Akor Adams after the Nigerian's crucial contribution in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Espanyol.
Adams came off the bench in the second half and struck in stoppage time. His dramatic finish secured all three points for the home side at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.
It was a vital Round 35 result in Sevilla's battle against relegation. The win pushes them further away from the drop zone as the season enters its final stretch.
Espanyol had taken the lead through Tyrhys Dolan following a defensive lapse. Sevilla found themselves chasing the game for much of the match.
Pressure mounted as the hosts pressed forward relentlessly. Espanyol retreated deeper as the match wore on and time ticked away.
An equalizer from Castrin leveled things up. Adams then struck with a curling shot into the bottom corner to complete the turnaround.
For Adams, the goal marked his ninth of the season. The strike underscores his growing importance to Sevilla's attacking play.
García Plaza spoke emotionally about the late winner in the aftermath. He highlighted the team's collective resolve and fighting spirit.
"I truly celebrated Akor's goal," the manager told reporters. "Although I have only been here for six games, I feel a strong connection with the team."
He noted the bench's reaction to the goal meant everything. In his view, it showed nobody had given up on victory.
"The bench erupted in celebration, which is very significant. One must never stop believing," García Plaza explained.
"It was a testament to that."
