Senator Nwoko champions sportsmanship, team spirit at Abuja Inter-House sports competition
Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North and Chancellor of the Sports University of Nigeria, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth development through sports at the 16th Annual Inter-House Sports Competition of Command Day Secondary School, Abuja. The event was held on February 18 at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment Sports Complex in Abuja.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Nwoko, the senator praised the students, teachers, and military personnel for organizing a competitive and energetic sporting event. He highlighted the importance of sports in building character, teamwork, discipline, and resilience among young people.
"I am honored to be part of this remarkable occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. Sports play a crucial role in both physical and mental well-being, instilling core values such as team spirit, perseverance, and fair play. Regardless of who wins or loses, the true essence of sports is sportsmanship and dedication, and in that sense, you are all champions," he said.
Senator Nwoko also commended the teachers and organizers for their dedication to the students' holistic development and applauded the military officers for their role in integrating sports into the school curriculum. Dr. Michael Nwoko, speaking on the senator’s behalf, reaffirmed Senator Nwoko’s vision for sports development in Nigeria, stating that the Sports University of Nigeria is open to collaborations aimed at identifying and nurturing young sporting talents.
