Senate Committee promises to make IOCs pay up to NDDC

The Senate Committee on NDDC has vowed to make the IOCs operating in Nigeria pay their dues to the commission.

Sen. Ned Nwoko, a member of the committee, told journalists in Abuja on Sunday that the IOCs owed the commission huge amounts of money.

He said the committee would summon and probe them to ensure they complied with the law.

He said some of the IOCs were making profits in Nigeria but neglecting their obligations to the commission and the host communities.

The senator said the committee would not tolerate any compromise from its members.

He also said the committee was determined to ensure quality project delivery by the NDDC, and its act was clear on the mandate of the commission, and the committee would not allow any deviation from it.

He said the committee would ensure that the projects of the commission would benefit the people, and the committee would also consider increasing the budgetary allocation to the commission if necessary.

Sen. Ned Nwoko expressed confidence in the current NDDC leadership, appointed by President Bola Tinubu.

He said they were aware of the new era and the expectations of the people, and the contractors must execute their projects or face the consequences.
