The Odia Samaj Association of Nigeria, a state unit of the Indian Community in Lagos, recently celebrated the seventh anniversary of the Lord Jagannatha temple in Ilupeju, Lagos.
The three-day-long event, held in a colorful and highly spiritual ceremony, attracted thousands of devotees who participated in various pujas and prayed for the eradication of problems in Nigeria and the world.
Consulate General of India to Nigeria, Mr. Chandramouli Kern, and Head of Chancery, Mr. N. Mahesh, inaugurated the Kalasa Yatra, the beginning of the puja, with 108 ladies participating.
The pujas were performed by a special team that traveled from Odisha, India, and Mahaprasad was served to all devotees throughout the event.
The Lord Jagannatha temple, constructed seven years ago in Lagos Palmgrove, was assembled by pre-building it in India and using stones for its structure.
The event also featured the One District One Product (ODOP) exhibition, a Government of India initiative to promote states' art and craft, tourism, food, industries, and more.
This exhibition showcased products from various districts of Odisha.
The Consulate General of India commended the exhibitors for their efforts in promoting the state's products and culture.
The celebration of the temple's anniversary and the ODOP exhibition served as a platform for the Indian and Nigerian communities to come together and celebrate their unity and cultural diversity.
