The Ward 1 leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, has announced the indefinite suspension of a member, Mr Paul Okparayovwe Oyiborume, due to allegations of anti-party activities and disruptive conduct.

The decision was reached at an emergency executive committee meeting held on March 22, 2026, following what party officials described as a “very disturbing petition” against the member. The ward executives said the action became necessary after careful deliberation on issues bordering on party discipline, adherence to guidelines, and conduct capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

According to the leadership, Oyiborume is accused of prolonged inactivity in ward affairs since 2016, opposition to zoning arrangements ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention, and allegedly attempting to disrupt a key meeting of the National Convention Central Coordinating Committee in Abuja. He was also faulted for bypassing internal dispute resolution channels and resorting to media publications considered damaging to the party’s image and leadership.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the Ward 1 executives said the suspension was in line with relevant provisions of the party’s constitution and would remain in force pending the conclusion of investigations into the allegations.

The statement read in part:

“Today, March 22, 2026, the executives of APC Ward 1, Sapele Local Government, after reviewing a disturbing petition against Mr. Paul Okparayovwe Oyiborume, resolved to take decisive action. The member has not been active in ward activities since 2016 and has acted contrary to party guidelines, particularly on zoning arrangements for the forthcoming national convention.

“He is also alleged to have attempted to disrupt a meeting of the National Convention Central Coordinating Committee on March 16, 2026, in Abuja, and resorted to the media with unverified and sensational claims without exhausting internal conflict resolution mechanisms.”

The ward executives stated that, acting under the powers conferred by the party’s constitution, they resolved to suspend Oyiborume indefinitely from all party activities pending the outcome of investigations.

The resolution was unanimously endorsed and signed by Ward 1 executives, including Chairman Eriekefe Obosiewe, Councillor Don Bajere, Ward Secretary Ezealaji Ebuka, LGA Organising Secretary Richard Ogirisen, PRO Adidi Christian, Assistant Treasurer Onome Solomon, Vice Chairman Osiobe Trust, Efevwaire Erhuvwu, and others.
