Residents of Ugberikoko Road in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State are urgently appealing to Chairman Hon. Bright Abeke for immediate action to repair the road, which has deteriorated to a dangerous and nearly impassable state.
Once a busy thoroughfare, the road has now become a commuter's nightmare, riddled with deep potholes and craters. The disrepair has persisted for months, creating significant hardships for those who depend on the road for their daily activities. Residents, fed up with the prolonged neglect, are demanding swift intervention from the local government.
Bishop Daniel Ese, a local resident, expressed his frustration to reporters, saying, "We're exhausted from living in constant fear every time we leave our homes. The road's condition is so dire that we can't even take our children to school without worrying about their safety. We urgently need the chairman’s intervention."
Daily commuters are equally concerned. Mr. Oghenekaro, a commercial driver, stated, "I spend hours on this road daily, and it's becoming unbearable. The potholes are so deep they’re damaging our vehicles. We need the local government to fix this road immediately."
Similarly, resident Jite Faith raised questions about the delay in repairs. "I heard Seplat Nigeria awarded a contract to fix the road, but I don’t understand why the contractor hasn’t started work yet. We're suffering, and that’s why we’re appealing to Chairman Hon. Bright Abeke to intervene and assist us," Faith said.
Community leader Mr. Edejeje also emphasized the urgent need for repairs, saying, "We have no choice but to cry out to our council chairman. We’re calling on him to take immediate action to fix this road. We can't continue living in these conditions."
The deplorable state of Ugberikoko Road requires urgent attention from either Seplat, the local government, the state government, or the federal government. Residents are eagerly awaiting the chairman’s intervention, hoping it will bring an end to their ordeal. As one resident noted, "We just want a road we can use without worrying about damage to our vehicles."
