President Tinubu to Implement Innovative Three-Step Performance Evaluation for Cabinet Members

President Bola Tinubu is set to introduce a novel three-step approach to evaluate the performance of Ministers and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as he approaches the completion of his first year in office.

This innovative strategy aims to incorporate public opinion into the decision-making process regarding the retention or dismissal of cabinet members and key agency leaders by May 29, 2024.

According to sources in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu plans to launch a feedback platform on Tuesday, which will enable members of the public to assess each minister’s performance based on their contributions to the administration’s objectives.

However, the inauguration of this platform has been postponed to the following week to allow for the finalization of preparations by the office of the Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, led by Hadiza Bala-Usman.

The three-step evaluation process will include assessments from the public, the Policy Coordination office, and a group of consultants.

This comprehensive approach aims to ensure that President Tinubu can make informed decisions on the retention or dismissal of cabinet members based on their performance.

Bala-Usman had earlier mentioned that President Tinubu “will drop ministers who do not deliver on their mandates.” She emphasized the President’s commitment to making life better and easier for Nigerians.

At a technical retreat organized for delivery desk officers of federal ministries, she encouraged them to understand the framework of the delivery chain for progress tracking and build their capacity on monitoring the delivery plan.

President Tinubu has charged the Ministers to demonstrate diligence, innovative thinking, commitment, and an unrelenting focus on results.

He also highlighted the importance of data in governance, stating that “Data is the life-blood of effective governance.”

As the President prepares to implement this innovative performance evaluation system, it is expected to foster transparency and accountability among cabinet members, ultimately contributing to the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

This agenda focuses on more than just economic growth, aiming to build a more just and equitable society for all Nigerians.
