President Tinubu Orders Cement Companies to Revert to Old Prices

Aimed at addressing the recent price hike in the cement industry, President Bola Tinubu has directed cement companies to revert to their old prices.

The directive was announced by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, following an inspection of the BUA cement factory in Sokoto on Thursday.

The Minister emphasized that President Tinubu insisted on maintaining the status quo regarding cement prices to ensure affordability for the common man.

This directive aligns with the government’s renewed hope agenda, which includes a massive housing program and the construction of concrete roads.

Umahi commended the commitment of the cement companies and expressed confidence in the quality of their products.

He also highlighted the government’s ongoing project to construct 372 kilometers of road, dual carriageway from Zaria to Sokoto State.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Aminu Tambuwal, praised the collaboration between the government and BUA Cement, stating that it would support the Federal Government’s initiative to provide affordable housing and address the housing gap in the country.

The cement industry plays a crucial role in the construction and housing sectors, and President Tinubu’s directive aims to ensure that the recent price hike does not negatively impact these sectors.

It remains to be seen how the cement companies will respond to the President’s directive and whether they will comply with the order to revert to their old prices.
