Nigeria's Presidency has rejected Peter Obi's demand that President Tinubu step down. The NDC candidate made the call on X on Monday.

Obi urged Tinubu to follow UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's example. He claimed the President failed to keep major campaign pledges.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga fired back with a statement on Tuesday. He said Obi's comparison missed the mark entirely.

Nigeria operates under a presidential system, Onanuga explained. Britain uses a parliamentary model where prime ministers can be removed differently.

"President Tinubu won a fixed four-year term," the adviser noted. Voters knew exactly what they were choosing, he stressed.

Onanuga pointed to recent electoral wins as proof of public backing. The APC triumphed in Ekiti and senatorial races across multiple states.

He told Obi to wait for the 2027 election. Using social media to pressure Tinubu out of office won't work, according to him.

Regarding security, the Presidency defended its record against persistent criticism. Officials said the administration inherited serious problems from past governments.

Counter-terrorism operations have intensified significantly since Tinubu took office. Thousands of militants have been killed in ongoing military campaigns.

Many abducted persons have also been freed during these operations. Government invested in drones and advanced intelligence systems to strengthen security.

On the economy, Onanuga said the administration stays committed despite global headwinds. International price shocks and supply chain disruptions affect every nation, he argued.

Onanuga branded Obi's resignation call "childish and hollow." Progress under Tinubu's watch is real, the spokesman insisted.

Nigeria remains on course for recovery and development. That's the Presidency's final position on the matter.
