The Delta State Police Command announced that its operatives have saved a kidnapping victim and killed two alleged robbers and kidnappers in the Ughelli South area of Delta State.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, saying the achievement was due to an intelligence-driven operation led by the Ekpan Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aliyu Shaba.

Edafe said the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, expresses deep gratitude to all Deltans and residents of the state for their full cooperation and obedience to the law during the festive season.

“On the instruction of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, an intelligence-driven operation led by the Ekpan Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aliyu Shaba, has successfully saved a kidnapped victim, retrieved the victim’s vehicle, and obtained three firearms, including two single-barrel and one double-barrel gun, with two used cartridges.

“On December 30, 2023, at about 1930 hrs, a 23-year-old male (name withheld) left his black-colored  GLK 350 Benz SUV parked along Jakpa Road with his brother (name withheld) inside the vehicle as he went about other activities.

“He was notified that the vehicle was assaulted by three armed men who took the vehicle with his brother in it, driving away to an unknown location,” he added.

Edafe noted that the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Wale Abass, has praised officers and men of the Command for their relentless efforts in making the year 2023 a success security-wise.

The CP also reminded them that the prize for hard work is more work, hence the need for them to improve their strategies in the battle against crime and criminality in 2024.
