Security operatives have successfully raided a camp belonging to gunmen who had disrupted trading at a village market in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.

The raid, which took place on February 20, 2024, was a response to the enforcement of the monthly sit-at-home order by the gunmen.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the security operatives acted on classified information about the hideout.

The operation, ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, led to the recovery of five exotic vehicles believed to have been snatched by the gang during their operations.

Additionally, over 300 rounds of Machine Gun Ammunition and 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition for Ak-47 Rifle were also recovered.

The gunmen escaped with bullet wounds when officers and men of the Joint Task Force stormed their hideout.

The Commissioner of Police has directed that owners of the recovered vehicles come forward with proof of ownership to claim their vehicles.

The manhunt for the fleeing insurgents will be extended to hospitals and clinics to ensure they are brought to justice.

This successful raid by the security operatives highlights their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and serves as a warning to other criminal elements that their activities will not be tolerated.
