The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs against crime, rescuing a kidnapped girl, arresting a suspected kidnapper, and rounding up 27 suspected armed robbers and drug dealers in separate operations.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said the operations underscore the Command’s commitment to proactive policing under Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
In Agbor Division, operatives led by DPO CSP Obekpa Michael stormed Oza Nogogo community following an intelligence report on a suspected abductor. The raid led to the arrest of 30-year-old Bila Halili of Kosso community, Sokoto State, who was found with a kidnapped girl, Rebecca Mathew.
Rebecca, from Bodinga community in Niger State, had been missing since September 2, 2025. Police investigations revealed that the suspect lured her away, destroyed her SIM card, and kept her under his control. “The victim was rescued and reunited with her mother, while the investigation continues,” the statement said.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, working with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service, raided Basket Market along Asaba–Benin Road, Uromi Junction. 27 suspects were arrested, with a locally made cut-to-size gun and large quantities of illicit drugs recovered.
Preliminary findings showed that the suspects were using the market as a hideout to perfect criminal activities. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda hailed the successful operations, urging the public to partner with security agencies by providing timely and credible information. “Security is everybody’s business. Together, we can defeat crime and make Delta safe,” he said.
