PMB keeping the security chiefs is rewarding failure – Eholor

By Angela James,

The President, One Love Foundation and the Observer General, Patrick Osagie Eholor has added his voice to Nigerians calling for the resignation of Security Chiefs for failing in their constitutional role of protecting innocent citizens of Nigerians from internal aggression.

Speaking to our Correspondents on the recent unanimous adoption of a motion by Mohammed Monguno (Representing APC Borno), urging President Mohammadu Buhari to sack all the Security Chiefs if the fail to resign honorably for their inability to stamp out insurgents in the North East, Eholor opined that the issue is not between the northerners and the southerners but between the elites and the poor people who want the poor to perpetually remain poor.

While wondering why Nigeria has become a country that reward failure, Eholor explained that service chiefs have tenure and if they have not been able to satisfy Nigerians, the National  Assembly has his support by calling for their resignation.

“People are being slaughtered everyday and resources meant for the fight against insurgency are being diverted. While the activities of this insurgence are increasing by the day instead of decreasing, I think the security chiefs should apologize and resign with shame. And if the security chiefs continue in office, it means Mr. President has become Mr. Punishment to his people”.

On reports by the Military that Boko Haram has been defeated in Borno and the submission by Ahmadu Jaha (Rep.Chibok, Damboa and Gwoza) that his constituents were still being attacked and displaced, Eholor said that Nigeria has been built on lies and that he cannot cast aspersions on the whole military because there are good men and women there.

“Perhaps it’s true that Boko Haram has been driven out from the area and they have taken over. But you know what happened when our military went to Liberia.  After the victory some of them started raping women and stealing. They brought national disgrace to Nigeria. The Chief of Army Staff should look into the military and purge out those that are not making the military proud. It is not only the security chiefs that are not performing; there are also low ranking officers who are not working in accordance with the rules of engagement”.
