Plateau North Rerun Election Sees Improved Turnout Amid Stakeholder Appeals

Stakeholders in the Plateau North Senatorial Zone have been actively encouraging citizens to come out and vote in the rerun election through local radio stations.

This comes after concerns were raised about the lack of participation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, which is a stronghold for the party.

Despite the initial anger over the situation, the PDP has adopted the candidates of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and the Labour Party (LP) for the positions of Senate and Bassa/Jos North federal constituency, respectively.

As the voting process continues, local government officials have been casting their votes and emphasizing the importance of citizens’ participation.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Jos South local government area, Peter Dung, stated that although his party is not on the ballot, he has come out to vote because they are law-abiding citizens.

He further urged others to do the same to ensure that the resources used in the preparation for the rerun election are not wasted.

Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and Ayuba Pam, both of whom voted at the same Polling Unit, commended the peaceful conduct of the people and encouraged eligible voters to exercise their right to vote.

However, there have been complaints about inadequate ballot papers in many Polling units in the Jos North local government area, particularly in areas such as Rock Haven, Tudun Wada, Agaldama, and Angwan Rukuba.
