A 15-year-old herder named Sadi Aliyu is dead following an attack in Sabon Gidan Kanar community. The incident occurred in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Gunmen stormed the area while herders grazed cattle on Saturday. They opened fire on the young herder and his colleagues.

Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, MACBAN's Plateau State Chairman, confirmed the killing to journalists in Jos. He noted that 13 cattle were slaughtered during the assault.

According to Babayo, 11 additional cattle remain unaccounted for. "The victim, alongside his colleagues, was tending cattle when the gunmen attacked them," he told reporters.

Babayo condemned the attack as unprovoked and unjustifiable. He described it as a serious threat to peace and security across Plateau State.

In his words: "The continuous targeting of innocent herders and their livestock is unacceptable." He stressed that such incidents undermine coexistence among communities.

MACBAN has reported the matter to Bukuru B Division of the Nigeria Police. Sector 6 of Operation Enduring Peace also received notice of the killing.

The association called on security agencies to act swiftly. Investigators must arrest and prosecute those responsible for Aliyu's death, it said.

Babayo urged governments at federal, state, and local levels to step up protection. He noted that all citizens deserve safety regardless of ethnicity or occupation.

MACBAN appealed to Fulani community members to remain calm. It warned against taking justice into their own hands.

According to Babayo, the association remains committed to dialogue and lawful solutions. "However, we insist that justice must be served for the late Sadi Aliyu," he stressed.

He added: "Justice must also be delivered for all victims of violence across Plateau State." MACBAN wants the rule of law to prevail.

Captain Polycarp Auta, spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, had not responded to inquiries as of Saturday evening. His office did not immediately comment on the incident.
