Tanko Habila, father of Mary Habila, the nurse who died at the home of the works minister, has written to the Inspector General of Police requesting the immediate release of her body for burial. He made the appeal on Friday after delivering the petition at the Force Headquarters in Abuja alongside his wife, other relatives and their legal team.

The family has grown increasingly distressed as nearly two weeks have passed since their daughter's death without the Ebonyi State Police Command handing over her remains. According to Habila, the family has no interest in an autopsy and simply wants to lay their daughter to rest.

"As we are standing here, somebody can fall and die. It has happened.

All we want is her body to be buried," he told journalists after his legal representatives addressed the media.
