Emmanuel Petit has criticised France's World Cup performance after the team lost 2-0 to Spain on Tuesday. The former international told Gabriel Agbonlahor on talkSPORT that Les Bleus looked jittery and fell well short of their usual standard.
"We looked so nervous, so far away from our level," Petit said. "Tactically and technically, we were so poor."
The ex-striker praised Spain's display and said the Spanish side earned the victory convincingly. "Credit to Spain, they really deserved to win.
They played really well," he added.
Petit stressed that France lacked spark in their attacking play throughout the match. "We had no inspiration, no creativity, no personality.
It was a lesson in football yesterday," he told reporters.
