PDP Congress: Crisis looms in Oghara Ward 7 over plans to impose unpopular candidate

There is imminent looming crisis in Oghara, the hometown of Chief James Ibori, following alleged plans to impose unpopular candidate as Chairman of Federal Ward 7 in the tomorrow Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Wards and Local Government Congress.

A protest letter obtained by Advocate dated March 4th, 2020, addressed to the State Party Chairman, signed by the leader of Ward 7 and former Council Chairman, Chief Young Afighi, Councilor representing the Ward, Hon. Smith Nikoro and 20 other leaders of the ward, they appealed to the State party Chairman to wade into the situation capable of degenerating crisis.

In the said letter, the Ward leaders noted that there is already a zoning principle in the ward which all the other quarters, namely: Okurode, Okwephapha and Ugbevwe benefited but Okuhivie has not benefited from since the zoning started.

The ward leaders also appealed to the party’s national leader in Delta State, Chief James Ibori to caution interlopers from Ejemuoyavwe affairs in order to ensure that there is equity and justice in PDP.

According to the letter, “Okurode, Ugbevwe quarters sent to the State Party Chairman aligned with Okuhivie agitation to produce the next Ward party Chairman while stressing that the zoning principle has brought peace to the ward.”

The leader of the ward and former Ethiope West Local Government Chairman, Chief Young Afighi and the Councilor representing the Ward, Hon. Smith Nikoro hinted that any attempt to impose unpopular candidate on the ward would be highly resisted.
