The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Rivers State Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, of instigating crisis in the state.
The opposition party alleged that Okocha is working to remove the "will of the people of Rivers State as expressed in the governorship election which produced Governor Siminalayi Fubara."
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, called on the Inspector General of Police to invite Okocha for questioning, stating that his utterances constitute a clear danger to the state and the country.
Ologunagba also accused Okocha of using the word "war" in his statement, which shows an evil intention that has been firmly resisted by the people of Rivers State.
The PDP claimed that the APC in Rivers State is seeking to instigate crisis and forcefully overthrow a democratic order in the state, violating Section 1, sub-section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
The party also called on the Federal Government and the national leadership of the APC to rein-in and caution Okocha to stop being an agent of destabilization and a threat to democracy in Nigeria.
The PDP demanded that the Inspector General of Police immediately invite Okocha and hold him personally liable for his utterances, which constitute a clear and present danger to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria and to peace and tranquility in Rivers State.
The party also called on the international community to take note of Okocha's reckless outburst, which could negatively affect the overall security of the country.
