The Delta State Government has intensified efforts to ensure justice over the recent Ozoro incident, with the Attorney-General, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, partnering with the Delta State Police Command to fast-track the investigation and prosecution of those involved.

This development followed a high-level meeting on Monday at the State Police Headquarters in Asaba, where the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, received a delegation from the Attorney-General’s office as part of coordinated steps to restore public confidence and ensure accountability.

Ohwovoriole commended the police for their prompt response in restoring calm in Ozoro after the incident, which had sparked widespread public concern. He assured that the state government would provide the necessary legal backing to ensure diligent prosecution of all culprits, stressing that justice must not only be done but seen to be done.

“The state is committed to supporting the police to ensure that all those found culpable are prosecuted to serve as a deterrent and uphold the rule of law,” the Attorney-General stated.

In his response, CP Adesola appreciated the visit and the support of the state government, noting that he had personally visited Ozoro to engage critical stakeholders and assess the situation firsthand. He assured that the command has already mobilised its investigative team to ensure a thorough and speedy process.

The police chief further pledged that such an incident would not be allowed to recur, emphasising that decisive measures have been put in place to sustain peace and security in the area.

Reaffirming the command’s position, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated that all identified suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, urging members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
