Gbenekama noted that since the Niger Delta Avengers have listened to the plea of Ijaw leaders by not resuming hostility in the region, the Federal government should use the opportunity to kick start academic activities in the Maritime University.

He wondered why all the promises made by Nigerian Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo during his visit to Gbaramatu Kingdom are not implemented.

According to him, “apart from the Maritime University, other promises like relocation of International Oil Companies to the oil bearing states and among others ended on the pages of newspapers.

He said, “I think the NDA threat should be a wakeup call for the federal government to start doing something before things will get out of hand”.

“I wonder why the federal government remain mum after the threat, may be they are waiting for the NDA to start destroying oil facilities before it will swing into action. The NDA are not laptop militants who speak without action, they are militants whose threat should not be taken for granted”, added.
