An 18-month-old girl was beheaded by unknown attackers at a farm settlement in Idanre, Ondo State. Her father is now demanding justice for the brutal killing.

Bright Kalu, a peasant farmer from Abia State, lost his daughter at Agoti Settlement on Monday, June 8, 2026. The child's mother had been watching her at the farm camp when the attack happened.

Kalu was away buying food at a nearby camp when tragedy struck. He returned to find his wife in distress and their daughter missing.

According to Kalu's account, his wife told him she'd been attacked but managed to save three of their other children. One child, however, was nowhere to be found.

He and his brother Ifeanyi immediately began searching the settlement. They discovered nothing at first, but later found the horrific remains behind their house.

"Her head had been severed," Kalu said in describing what he found. The devastated father is now appealing for urgent action from authorities.

Kalu wants the Ondo State Government, security agencies, and human rights bodies to track down those responsible. He's demanding that the killers face prosecution in court.

Police at Olofin Station in Idanre received the initial report. The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Police Headquarters in Akure.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident. He noted that investigators have already arrested one suspect connected to the crime.

Jimoh told reporters the investigation is still ongoing. Once complete, he said, the suspect will be taken to court.
