Oborevwori’s victory not a mistake but an act of God – Chief Kome Okpobor

The Chairman, Kome Support Group, Chief Oghenekome Okpobor has congratulated the speaker of the State’s House of Assembly and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oberevwori on his victory at the court of appeal.

In a statement made available to newsmen and personally signed by him, Chief Kome urged all concerned parties, especially his main contender, Olorogun David Edevbie to see the outcome of today’s appeal as an act of God to unify the party ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial elections.

“Firstly, let me congratulate our Party’s gubernatorial flag bearer on his resounding victory at the court of appeal earlier today. This certainly is an act of God which defiles man’s reasoning and expectation as the ways of God are truly not the ways of men.

He ordains kings and leaders at every instance as He wills, and of His own will has chosen Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oberevwori is to be the gubernatorial candidate of our party and by His grace, the next governor of the state comes in 2023 and does not subject His choice to the scrutiny of men.

Secondly, I’d like to congratulate our great party as it is a victory for all. It has no doubt been a turbulent period but this judgment has come at a time where all parties, more than ever before, need to genuinely accept the peace that is before us and recalibrate ourselves for the task ahead.

Specifically, I call on Olorogun David Edevbie to see today’s judgement as an act of God as there is usually no victor nor vanquish in any disagreement involving two brothers. We acknowledge that all parties are intricately relevant and must remain cohesive as we move into the next phase of the electoral process.

While we also acknowledge that it is well within the unalienable constitutional right of Olorogun David Edevbie to approach the Supreme Court to seek any form of redress, we would rather his sword be sheathed in the interest of peace and brotherly love to enable the air of reconciliation thrive”. He said.
