In a significant move to bolster healthcare access for vulnerable populations, Dr. Patrick Ighomrore JP, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development, has sponsored the enrollment of over 150 indigent individuals, primarily Uvwie indigenes and residents, into the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme.
The initiative, launched on Tuesday, July 15, at Ugwu’Udi Family Hall in Effurun, was lauded by beneficiaries and dignitaries as a crucial step towards advancing grassroots healthcare. Dr. Ighomrore, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, emphasised that this effort is his "modest contribution to the realisation of a healthier Uvwie and Delta State," transcending social and political divides.
"This gathering is not just ceremonial; it is a reaffirmation of our collective resolve to improve human welfare and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare," Dr. Ighomrore stated. He added that the scheme, inspired by Governor Oborevwori's vision, aims to reach those often overlooked by the healthcare system, asserting that "No one should be left behind when it comes to health. This effort demonstrates that healthcare is not a luxury, but a fundamental human right."
