Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday offered thanksgiving to God following the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the state, describing the exercise as one of the smoothest political processes witnessed in recent years.
Speaking during a morning devotion at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, the governor expressed gratitude to God for sustaining his administration and for the atmosphere of peace, unity, and stability that characterised the primaries across the state.
Oborevwori said the peaceful outcome of the exercise was a major departure from previous political experiences and deserved appreciation to God.
“First, I want to thank God for keeping us to this day and for all He has done for us. I also thank Him for the overwhelming love and support Deltans have continued to show this administration,” the governor stated.
Quoting Psalm 100 verse 4, he said believers must always approach God with thanksgiving and praise, stressing that every achievement and victory should be attributed to divine grace.
“I have come to return all the glory to God who made everything possible. There was no crisis, no fighting, and no breakdown of law and order. Everything went peacefully,” he added.
The governor noted that compared to the tense political atmosphere that surrounded the 2022 primaries, the peaceful conduct of the recent APC exercise was particularly remarkable.
“If you know what we passed through during the 2022 primaries, then you will understand why we must thank God that everything turned out successfully this time,” he said.
Oborevwori also cautioned political supporters against idolising public office holders, reminding them that service to humanity should ultimately be seen as service to God.
“You are not serving me; you are serving God. Salvation is personal,” he remarked, while encouraging citizens to remain grateful for life, good health, and divine blessings.
According to him, good health remains one of life’s greatest blessings, noting that wealth without sound health is meaningless.
The governor further commended those who have consistently sustained prayer activities at the Government House Chapel, especially the regular weekday intercessory sessions.
He disclosed that the state government would hold its annual thanksgiving service on Friday as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office and to appreciate God for His guidance, protection, and achievements recorded by the administration.
