The North Central Development Commission has expressed deep sorrow over deadly attacks in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. The violence struck Otukpo-Nobi and Akpachi-Ugboju communities, leaving residents dead and homes destroyed.

Dr Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, the commission's managing director, strongly condemned the assaults. He sent condolences to bereaved families, the injured, affected residents, and Benue State's government and people.

The commission warned that recurring violence threatens development across the North Central region. According to Tsenyil, peace and security are vital for improving people's lives and driving socio-economic progress.

The NCDC urged security forces to move fast in catching those behind the attacks. It also called on authorities to prosecute the perpetrators without delay.

Beyond justice, the commission asked local leaders to take bold action to restore calm in the communities. Protection of lives and property must be guaranteed, it noted.

Dr Makut Simon Macham, head of corporate communications, said the NCDC stands with Benue's government during this difficult time. The commission prayed for the dead and swift healing for the wounded.

The NCDC also called for lasting peace across Benue State and the entire North Central region. It's committed to supporting the affected areas as they recover from the tragedy.
