The Commissioner overseeing the Directorate for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, has declared that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, remains steadfast in his commitment to transforming riverine communities across the state.

Clark gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas, stressing that the administration is determined to deliver durable and impactful infrastructure in the creeks under its MORE Agenda.

Among the projects inspected were the 3.1-kilometre Kolokolo–Tisun road in Warri North and the Oporoza Model Secondary School in Warri South-West. The commissioner was accompanied by engineers from the directorate, representatives of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, the firm handling the road project, and leaders of the benefiting communities.

Addressing stakeholders, Clark underscored the governor’s resolve to ensure that residents of riverine communities enjoy the same quality of infrastructure as those in urban centres, despite the environmental and logistical challenges posed by the creek terrain.

“This is the Deep Creek of Delta State. Some people believed nothing tangible could be achieved here because of the terrain. But for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, terrain is not a limitation. He has proven his capacity in urban areas and is replicating the same standards in riverine communities. He is breaking the jinx,” Clark stated.

He explained that the Kolokolo–Tisun road contract was awarded to a competent contractor to guarantee durability and high standards, warning that the state government would not tolerate substandard execution. He commended the contractor for the significant progress made so far despite environmental constraints.

Clark also noted that work on the Oporoza Model Secondary School is progressing steadily, though challenged by the difficult terrain. When completed, the school will feature male and female hostels, staff quarters, a well-equipped library, science laboratories, administrative offices, and other modern facilities aimed at enhancing teaching and learning.

In his remarks, the General Manager of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, Amb. Muobor Krubu disclosed that the 3.1-kilometre road project was awarded in September 2025 and is scheduled for completion within 12 months. He assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to meeting the timeline and praised the host communities for their cooperation.

Community leaders, including Mr. Gabriel Tetsola of Kolokolo, Mr. Frederick Kuke of Tisun, Mr. Emmanuel Ebi of Oporoza, and Chief Demebi Izirimi, expressed appreciation to the state government, describing the projects as landmark interventions in their communities. They pledged continued support for the Oborevwori administration.

The inspection tour, Clark noted, underscores the government’s resolve to bridge infrastructural gaps and promote balanced, inclusive development across all parts of Delta State, including its most remote riverine areas.
