Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Tuesday embark on a working visit to Germany for high-level talks with construction giant Julius Berger, aimed at strengthening technical collaboration and securing more favourable project terms for Delta State.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing in Asaba. He said the Governor would be accompanied by himself and the Governor’s Technical Assistant.

Flanked by the Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Projects and Policies, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, Aniagwu stressed that the visit was strictly business-oriented and part of the administration’s drive for better value in infrastructure delivery.

“The purpose of this visit is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Julius Berger,” Aniagwu said. “His Excellency is known for his negotiation skills, and this trip will help us secure better deals and concessions that will benefit the state.”

He clarified that the trip was not for leisure but part of sustained efforts to improve project execution, cost efficiency, and value for money.

Recalling previous international engagements, Aniagwu pointed out that the Governor’s earlier visit to China resulted in the award of major infrastructure contracts, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction, Ughelli flyover along the Warri–Patani Expressway.

Providing updates on state finances, Aniagwu revealed that the proposed ₦1.5 trillion 2026 budget would place heavy emphasis on capital projects, social welfare, and infrastructure expansion.

“Following the approval of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, ministries are fine-tuning their submissions before presentation to the State Executive Council,” he said.

Aniagwu also announced that new empowerment programmes would kick off next month across all 25 local government areas, emphasising that the Governor had directed the process to be transparent and inclusive.

He added that several new multimillion-naira projects, including the Otovwodo Junction Flyover, would soon have their groundbreaking ceremonies as part of efforts to sustain development momentum.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to continuity, Aniagwu assured that political timelines would not slow down governance. “Contractors have been instructed to maintain steady progress on all ongoing projects,” he said, adding that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on delivering tangible results across Delta State.
