At the inauguration of the police station built by DESOPADEC, Oborevwori said the facility would strengthen security operations and improve the capacity of law enforcement agencies to protect lives and property in the area.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday commissioned a newly built ultra-modern police station and flagged off the construction of the 11-kilometre Aboh-Akarai Road project in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security and rural infrastructure development.

The projects, executed in partnership with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), attracted a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, and residents who described the interventions as transformational for Ndokwa Nation.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Aboh-Akarai Road, Governor Oborevwori said the project aligns with his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda focused on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

According to the governor, rural road infrastructure remains critical to unlocking the economic potential of oil-producing and riverine communities across the state.

He noted that improved connectivity would ease transportation, boost commerce, and open up previously neglected communities for economic growth and social development.

At the inauguration of the police station built by DESOPADEC, Oborevwori said the facility would strengthen security operations and improve the capacity of law enforcement agencies to protect lives and property in the area.

He urged residents to support security agencies with credible information and cooperate fully to sustain peace and stability within their communities.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Festus Ochonogor, said the commission remained committed to delivering impactful projects that complement the state government's development agenda.

Ochonogor stated that DESOPADEC would continue to prioritise projects that improve living conditions and accelerate socio-economic development in oil-producing communities.

Also speaking, Charles Olisa described the interventions as timely and strategic, saying the projects would significantly improve connectivity, security, and the overall quality of life for the people of Ndokwa Nation.

“This project is critical to the people of Ndokwa Nation. It demonstrates a commitment to opening up our communities and improving the quality of life for our people. We are deeply grateful to Governor Oborevwori for delivering this legacy infrastructure,” Olisa said.

Community leaders and stakeholders at the event commended the governor for sustained investment in the region and pledged continued support for developmental programmes across Ndokwa communities.

The twin projects — the Aboh-Akarai Road and the new police station — are widely seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Government to bridge the rural-urban infrastructure gap while strengthening public safety across the state.
