Senator Ned Nwoko, representing the Delta North Senatorial District, has described the commissioning of the new Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Delta State Office in Warri as a major step toward transparency, institutional efficiency, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
Speaking after the commissioning ceremony on Friday, which was attended by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, federal and state lawmakers, traditional rulers, and development stakeholders, Senator Nwoko said the new edifice “represents far more than bricks and mortar.”
According to him, “This milestone reflects the renewed commitment to efficient service delivery, transparency, and people-centred governance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Nwoko emphasised that the new state office symbolises “a stronger and more responsive institution dedicated to driving sustainable development and improving the lives of our people across the Niger Delta.”
The senator, known for his advocacy for institutional accountability, pledged continued support for reforms that align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Vision, particularly those aimed at strengthening governance and empowering local communities.
“As the Senator representing Delta North, I remain firmly committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen institutions and ensure that agencies like the NDDC deliver lasting impact for our people,” stated.
Governor Oborevwori, in his remarks, commended the NDDC for delivering on a long-awaited project and called for deeper collaboration between federal and state institutions to fast-track development across the region.
Officials say the new Warri office will serve as a strategic hub for project planning, implementation, and oversight—enhancing coordination, reducing bureaucracy, and improving responsiveness to local needs.
The structure forms part of an ongoing reform agenda by the NDDC, supervised by the Ministry of Regional Development, aimed at restoring public confidence and boosting institutional performance.
The event drew a wide array of dignitaries, including members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional leaders, youth groups, and civil society organisations, who hailed the project as a turning point for the region.
Senator Nwoko’s remarks, observers say, echo a broader sentiment among Niger Delta leaders calling for purposeful governance and a redefined development strategy that ensures no community is left behind.
