Nigeria's Super Eagles Drop Eight Places in Latest FIFA Rankings

By Advocate | June 20, 2024 | 1 min read |

Nigeria's Super Eagles have dropped eight places in the latest monthly ranking released by the Federation of International Football Federation (FIFA) on Thursday.

The three-time African champions slipped from 30th to 38th position.

The team's disappointing results in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers contributed to the drop in ranking.

The Super Eagles held the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to a 1-1 draw at home and lost 2-1 away against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Despite the slip, the Super Eagles are still among the top five teams in Africa. Morocco is the highest ranked country on the continent, with Senegal in second position.

Egypt and Cote d'Ivoire occupy third and fourth positions, respectively.
