Nigeria's currency continued its winning streak against the dollar on Thursday at the official market. Data from the Central Bank shows the naira climbed to N1,372.31 per dollar.
That's a gain of N1.03 from the previous day's N1,373.34 rate. The appreciation reflects ongoing strength in the local unit.
On the parallel market, however, traders held firm at N1,400 per dollar. Wednesday's rate matched Thursday's trading level exactly.
The naira's performance comes as external reserves reached $48.72 billion, the apex bank confirmed. Stronger reserves typically support currency stability.
Wednesday had already brought modest gains for the local currency. The trend appears to be continuing into this week.
