Ali Ndume, the former Senate Leader, has praised the Nigerian Army's daring rescue operation over the weekend. Soldiers freed 360 residents of Ngoshe community who had been held captive since March.

In a statement released Sunday, Ndume commended the military's professionalism during the operation. He called the weekend assault on insurgents "remarkable" and worthy of national recognition.

According to him, army personnel deserve applause for their bravery despite severe logistical constraints. "We must acknowledge the spectacular patriotism of these men and officers," Ndume noted in the statement.

He singled out three commanders for special recognition. These include the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, the General Officer Commanding 7th Division Maiduguri, and the Brigade Commander of 26TF Brigade in Gwoza.

Ndume did not stop at military commendation. He called on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to step up its response to the crisis.

According to his statement, government must work with Borno State authorities to rebuild Ngoshe. The community needs infrastructure restored before residents can return from displacement camps.

Ndume said findings show residents are eager to leave the camps once their community becomes habitable. Military presence in the area has boosted confidence among villagers, he added.

Zubaida Umar, the director general of NEMA, also received praise from Ndume. She had released relief materials to help displaced persons in the region.

Ndume urged the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs to complement state government efforts in reconstruction. A coordinated approach, he believes, will enable faster recovery for Ngoshe residents.
