Nigeria's fourth evacuation flight from South Africa touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday evening, bringing 284 passengers home. The Air Peace aircraft landed at 7:30 p.m. as scheduled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among those on board were 282 returnees and two government officials overseeing the evacuation operation, the ministry said. The passengers included 12 infants making the journey back to Nigeria.
Kimiebi Ebienfa, the ministry's spokesperson, described the arrival as part of the government's wider programme to repatriate Nigerians from South Africa. He noted that the coordinated diplomatic and logistical efforts demonstrated the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring citizens returned safely and in an orderly manner.
Air Peace has continued to provide crucial airlift support throughout the evacuation exercise, the ministry confirmed. Upon arrival, ministry officials received the returnees and began the necessary reception and processing procedures at the airport.
